This Refund Policy explains how refunds, cancellations, and plan changes work for subscriptions to the Setten platform, operated by Setten Company Limited (“Setten”, “we”, “us”, “our”).
It forms part of our Terms of Service. Capitalised terms have the meaning given there.
1. Summary
- Subscription fees are non-refundable, except as set out in this Policy or required by law.
- You can cancel at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You keep access until then and are not charged again.
- Upgrades take effect immediately and are charged on a prorated basis.
- Downgrades take effect at your next billing period. No credit is given for the unused part of the current period.
- Payments and refunds are handled by Paddle, our merchant of record, not by us. See Section 2.
- Your statutory rights as a consumer are unaffected. See Section 4.
2. Merchant of Record
Paddle is the merchant of record and seller of subscriptions purchased through Setten. The Paddle entity you contract with depends on your location and is identified at checkout.
Your purchase is also subject to Paddle’s Buyer Terms and Refund Policy. Applicable law governs your statutory rights and prevails over any inconsistent provision of this Policy or Paddle’s terms.
3. Refund Eligibility
Fees paid for Setten subscriptions are non-refundable, and unused portions of a billing period are not refundable or exchangeable, except where a refund is required by applicable law or is expressly granted under this Policy.
You have continuous access to the Service throughout the period you have paid for, whether or not you use it. We do not give refunds or credits for:
- billing periods that have already begun;
- periods during which you did not use, or made limited use of, the Service;
- seats that were purchased but left unassigned or unused;
- forgetting to cancel before a renewal;
- downgrading a plan, reducing seats, or switching from yearly to monthly billing mid-period;
- unused transcription minutes, AI usage, storage, or other plan allowances, which do not carry over between periods.
4. Your Statutory Rights
Nothing in this Policy limits or excludes any right you have under the mandatory consumer protection law of your country of residence. Where such a right applies, it overrides Section 3.
Paddle handles statutory withdrawal and refund requests as our merchant of record. Eligibility, conditions, and time limits depend on applicable law. See Paddle’s Refund Policy for its procedures.
Statutory consumer rights generally apply to individuals purchasing outside their trade, business, or profession, and may not apply to business purchases.
5. Discretionary Refunds
Paddle may grant discretionary refunds under its Refund Policy for requests made within 14 days of the transaction date. Each request is assessed individually and may be approved in full, in part, or declined. A refund is not guaranteed and does not create an entitlement to future refunds.
We will also support a refund request where we are satisfied that:
- you were charged in error, such as a duplicate charge or a charge after you validly cancelled;
- a persistent, material defect prevented you from using a core feature of your plan, we were notified of it, and we were unable to resolve it within a reasonable time.
In these cases, contact us first at hi@settenhq.com and we will work with Paddle to resolve it.
6. Cancelling Your Subscription
6.1 How to cancel. Cancel at any time from the billing settings in your workspace. Only workspace administrators with billing permissions can cancel.
6.2 When it takes effect. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You keep full access to your plan until that date, and no further charges are taken. You are not charged a cancellation fee.
6.3 Changing your mind. You can reverse a scheduled cancellation at any time before the period ends, and your subscription will continue uninterrupted.
6.4 Deleting a workspace or account. Deleting a workspace or closing an account does not automatically cancel your subscription. You must cancel the subscription itself to stop billing.
6.5 What happens to your data. Cancellation does not immediately delete your data. Your workspace remains available until the end of the paid period. We then retain and delete your content as described in our Privacy Policy. Please export anything you need before your access ends.
7. Plan Changes
7.1 Upgrades and additional seats. Upgrading your plan, adding seats, or moving from monthly to yearly billing takes effect immediately. You are charged a prorated amount covering the difference for the remainder of your current billing period, and your next renewal is charged at the full new price.
7.2 Downgrades and seat reductions. Downgrading your plan, removing seats, or moving from yearly to monthly billing takes effect at the start of your next billing period. You keep your current plan and seat count until then. No refund or credit is given for the unused portion of the current period.
7.3 Feature limits after a downgrade. If your usage exceeds your new plan’s limits, such as storage, you may need to reduce it before the change takes effect. We will tell you if this applies.
8. Price Changes
We give at least 30 days’ notice by email before a price increase applies to your subscription. If you do not wish to continue at the new price, you may cancel under Section 6 before it takes effect. Price changes never apply retroactively to periods you have already paid for.
9. Failed Payments
If a renewal payment fails, collection will be retried and you will be notified. If payment remains outstanding, we may restrict, downgrade, or suspend access to the workspace. Restoring access requires settling the outstanding amount. Suspension for non-payment does not entitle you to a refund of previously paid fees.
10. Termination by Us
If we terminate your subscription for convenience under Section 14.3 of the Terms of Service, we will refund a prorated portion of prepaid fees covering the unused remainder of your current billing period.
No refund is given where we terminate or suspend your access because of your material breach of the Terms of Service, including breaches of the acceptable use or recording consent obligations.
11. Chargebacks
If you believe a charge is incorrect, please contact us or Paddle before disputing it with your bank. We may suspend a workspace that is subject to an unresolved chargeback until the matter is settled.
12. How to Request a Refund
- Contact us at hi@settenhq.com with your workspace name, the email address on the account, the transaction date, and the reason for your request. We will review it and, where appropriate, arrange for the refund to be processed.
- Or contact Paddle directly at paddle.net, using the transaction receipt sent to you.
Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method and are normally processed within 14 days after approval. The time it takes to appear on your statement depends on your bank or card issuer. When a refund is issued, access to the corresponding subscription ends.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. The “Effective Date” above shows when the current version took effect. Material changes will be notified at least 30 days in advance by email or in-product notice. Changes apply prospectively and do not reduce statutory or contractual rights that arose before they took effect.
